Spreckels Temple of Music
Spreckels Temple of Music is a popular feature of Golden Gate Park, used for picnics and weekend band concerts.
Originally designed by the Reid Brothers in 1899, the bandshell experienced damage first in the 1906 earthquake and again in 1989’s Loma Prieta. The temple was restored in 1994, with a complete seismic makeover.
In 2008, Giampolini Courtney was tasked with performing extensive sandstone restoration and stone replacements. Services spanned repointing, cleaning, new sheet metal roofing, sandstone replacements, dutchman patches, and sandstone retooling.
The bandshell, as it is typically referred to, is one of the oldest structures in the music concourse in Golden Gate Park.
