Original paint label of the retail paint brand sold at the Dupont St. location.
Servino Giampolini founded Giampolini on Dupont St (Grant St) in 1912 to serve the thriving North Beach neighborhood.
Originally, operations included paint manufacturing, retail paint sales, and painting contracting services.
Albert Giampolini inherited the company from his father, Servino in 1932. Albert introduced commercial painting, in addition to residential painting, pivoting away from retail paint sales and manufacturing. He passed the company down to his nephew, Alfred Quilici.
Alfred Quilici, only 34-years-old at the time of succession, ran the company as president from 1947 to 1985. In 1985, two of Al’s sons, Greg and Tom, entered into management positions to carry on the family tradition.
Under the direction of CEO Greg Quilici, the company expanded to add drywall and masonry restoration divisions. Although originally known as a painting contractor, Giampolini expanded to become a dynamic and competitive specialty contractor.
Today, the company is headquartered across the bay and operates out of the industrial district of Emeryville, CA.
